Definition of bliss:
I’m home. I only have a few, pleasant errands to run later today, some of which include the procurement of dog toys and various cheeses! I’m free to spend the morning snuggling cats, reading magazines and books, drinking tea, dozing in bed…. The freedom is intoxicating.

The last few weeks have been really… strange. There’s no need to get into dramatics, but this year’s stress finally hit in one really big bang and the fallout has been spectacular. This breakdown has been the best thing to happen to me in years. I tend to look at time in terms of academic years. I’ve been living inside that schedule for so long that I forget to look at...

For your pleasure: a riveting video of Winnie pilfering water. And yes, that is D laughing and saying, “If she pukes in your water glass it’ll be hilarious.” Enjoy.

– Relevant magazine (via Diana) This is great. (via megburns) I don’t often get inspirational on y’all, but this really nails it.  (via haygirlhay) I got kind of teary reading this and motivated to keep making these next years count.

a place to love dogs: Naming A Dog Is Fun! - 5... →
aplacetolovedogs: Shelley Mamott. Staff Writer Most of us put a lot of thought into naming a new dog or puppy. What we name our dog usually has a lot to say about our own personality, thoughts and sense of humor. Things To Consider When Naming Your Dog 1. Keep it short, one or two syllables. This will be… And I thought we were being creative.

Hey ladies,
What kind of drugstore nail polish is the best/most festive (sparkly!) this year?

Offensive Thursday is here!
So I don’t know if this is offensive or not, but it seems that Sexist Guy LOOOOOOOOVES David Foster Wallace. The way he’s saying it sounds so pretentious and rude that it seems offensive. He’s talking to one of his female students, so I’m sure we’ll get there soon.

I have kitten eyes.
D calls it having “kitten eyes” when you’re so sleepy you can barely wake up. I stayed up too late reading, but I STAYED UP TOO LATE READING!!! It has been such a long time since I devoured books on a weekly and monthly basis. Part of my issue has been that it’s been hard to hold my attention since probably the second year in grad school. Grad school just beat the desire...

Heavy day.
My favorite class of the semester is having a terrible end to their semester. 2 students will fail because of their failure to attend class, 1 student’s father passed away suddenly today and another is so ill that she has to withdraw from the university. Our tiny class feels empty and a little ragged here toward the end. I think it’s really demoralizing for them right now and I wish...

And here we are again.
On days like today, when it’s so cold outside and I’m working from home I feel really bad for Lola. Normally, she’s an awesome apartment dog. She’s really calm and doesn’t have tons of excess energy. She’s pretty content with walks and playing inside (this is the dog that sits down on a two mile run). She is truly a dog raised by cats. I can’t take her...

Enough badassery to go around.
Tomorrow I’m going to do the Colder Boulder, which is a 5k race associated with it’s similarly silly-named sister the Bolder Boulder (a 10k). In the past, I’ve had to say no to the CB because I’m busy writing furiously toward the end of the semester. Of course this year (finally!) I’m free of that nonsense and can run. It’s going to live up to its name and be...
